Fort Bend ISD

Lana is a senior from Elkins High School. She will be attending Rice University in the fall to major in Health Sciences. Lana worked with her mentor at the Houston Methodist Research Institute in the Neurosurgery Department to analyze the role of inflammation and how certain genes impact microglial cells and neurodegeneration. She is a public health and gender equity advocate, and she currently serves as a Girl Up Global Teen Advisor and a National Breast Cancer Foundation Community Ambassador. She is captain of her school's congressional debate team and Chief Executive Officer of the Elkins Junior Achievement Company. Lana's favorite memory from the GT Mentorship Cohort was getting to meet everyone during the ROPES activities at the beginning of the year.
