• Chinna Mcfred, Travis High School

  • Chinna is a senior at William B. Travis High School. This fall, he will be attending Baylor University, where he plans to major in Biology and pursue a pre-medical curriculum. Throughout high school, he has been actively involved in a number of extracurricular activities, including Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) and Beta Club, clubs that prioritize volunteer work and have helped him grow as both a student and a member of his community. During his mentorship, he worked with Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, where he spent time in the Heart and Vascular Institute observing a variety of medical procedures and learning basic medical techniques that allowed him to get hands-on experience in the branch. This experience gave him valuable insight into cardiology and strengthened his interest in pursuing this career. His favorite mentorship memories were when unexpected cases came up, like a seizure or heart attack, that required immediate attention. Although these situations are very bad, these moments showed him how fast situations can change in the medical field and what to expect.

“Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. But today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present.” - Master Oogway
