Student Biography
Arfa Momin is currently a senior at Austin High School. During her high school career, Arfa engaged in Girls Who Code and served as President of the Debate Team and as an Ambassador for FBISD Student Voices. Arfa has been recognized as a finalist in The New York Times Editorial Contest, as a Semi-Finalist in the Technovation Global App Challenge, and as a State Finalist and Regional Champion for National History Day. She also placed first in the Houston Rodeo School Art Program with an Award of Excellence. Additionally, Arfa has received a U.S. Department of State Scholarship to study Persian in Tajikistan for summer 2021 and 2022. Outside of school, Arfa serves as a Religious Education Teacher and likes to hike and bike. As a part of GT Mentorship, Arfa was mentored under Magzoub Ismail, Bassant Ibrahim, and Jeannette Cruz at SEEML Labs. During this experience, Arfa was afforded the opportunity to glimpse into an utterly complex and beautiful microscopic world, while simultaneously learning how to advocate for herself in the workforce. In the fall, Arfa plans to matriculate at either Rice University or The University of California, Berkeley to study environmental science and data science.

Founded in 2004, SEEML is an independent laboratory that offers top notch customer support and superior testing. Our focus is exclusively devoted to laboratory services for asbestos and fungal/mold analysis. SEEML was established to meet specific needs of industrial hygienists and other professionals by providing responsive and cost effective environmental microbiology laboratory services tailored to the indoor air quality specialty. It is this level of superior service, expertise and technical support we furnish to our clients that sets SEEML apart from other microbiology laboratories. As it stands, our technical staff includes environmental microbiologists/mycologists that have over 20 years of combined laboratory analytical experience.
