• Vistas Talent Pool Banner

  • The Vistas Talent Pool is a group of elementary students identified as having characteristics and behaviors of a high potential learner. They are selected using a series of informal and formal measures (please see Parent Guide for details) on campuses that receive Title I funds or designated as low-Social Economic Schools (low-SES). The Vistas Talent Pool program provides early enrichment opportunities for those students whose talents must be nurtured in order for their potential to fully develop. While all children are to be taught creative thinking skills, leadership skills, and to achieve at high levels in the content areas, some children will learn at a faster pace and more complex level in one or more of these areas. The Vistas Talent Pool program provides educational opportunities  which are qualitatively differentiated to meet the individual needs in the specific area(s) in which the student demonstrates exceptional talent or the potential for exceptional talent.

The Vistas Talent Pool Program is committed to:

    • Developing a passion for learning and personal growth so that students reach their talent potential
    • Delivering an enriched curriculum with opportunities for studying subjects in greater depth and complexity through language-rich classrooms
    • Differentiating curriculum and instructional delivery to align with the needs of students
    • Directing all students toward intellectual, emotional, and social success in academics and life.

    Enriched Learning

High potential learners benefit from an accelerated learning pace, specially trained teachers, and an enriched curriculum with choices for studying subjects in greater depth and complexity. They also enjoy opportunities to take part in special projects and develop higher-level thinking skills. To strengthen verbal intelligence, instruction focuses on the linguistic and nonlinguistic aspects of background knowledge through language rich classrooms. Students receive services in a classroom that nurtures the traits, aptitudes, and characteristics of gifted students through rich learning opportunities.
