Purpose

  • The Fort Bend ISD Gifted and Talented Academy provides challenging learning opportunities and instructional strategies to differentiate for the academically gifted. Instruction is designed to enhance self-awareness, self-efficacy, problem solving and the learning of critical and creative thinking skills that empower students to make important connections through problem-based, interdisciplinary study and investigation.

  • 2020 - 2021 GT Academy Recruitment, Application and Selection Timeline:

    January 23, 2020 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm: GTA Information Nights #1 for prospective students and their parents located-Quail Valley Middle School - 3019 FM 1092 Road

    January 29, 2020 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm: GTA Information Nights #2 for prospective students and their parents-Quail Valley Middle School - 3019 FM 1092 Road

    January 21, 2020– February 7, 2020 - GTA School Tours – Sign Up Required at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050C44AAA62D6-fbisd5

    February 3, 2020 - March 6, 2020 - Online applications window (no testing, essays, recommendations, or portfolios required) – NO EXCEPTIONS.

    March 27, 2020 - Acceptance or Waitlist Notification emailed to applicants.

    April 3, 2020 - Final commitment date applicants accepted on March 27th. 

    April 3, 2020 - Seats released to waitlisted applicants. 

    April 10, 2020 - Final commitment date for applicants accepted on April 3rd. 

    April 16, 2020 - GT Academy Orientation for incoming class 6:00 - 8:00 PM

  • Concept-Based Teaching and Learning

     

    Through Concept-Based Instruction, rigor is embedded in understanding the universal concepts, as interdisciplinary connections are a logical result.  Because many gifted children are global thinkers, using a universal concept is a more natural way for them to learn.

    Congratulations to Mr. Bernhart and Be the Change EXPO!

    Through the Innovation in Giftedness Award program, TAGT recognizes and showcases exemplary projects, programs, or ideas that address the unique needs of gifted students in innovative ways. Mr. Bernhart completed a rigorous application, which was reviewed and scored by a committee of TAGT volunteers. The BE THE CHANGE EXPO program will receive a $5,000 financial award to support continued operation, expansion, or development of innovation.

    7th Grade QVMS GTA Students score BIG on the SAT and ACT!

    The 7th Grade DUKE TIP Talent Search is dedicated to challenging academically gifted and talented students through above level testing and access to rigorous coursework and materials.

    Dozens of GTA 7th graders scored better than 90% of recent high school graduates on the ACT or SAT.
