The following is a listing of projects from the GT Department Five-Year Task Map that are In Progress/Ongoing:
Student Assessment
- Annually monitor and evaluate the selection process for consistent use of identification standards.
Service Design
- Continue to monitor, evaluate, and expand upon the GT Learning Plan pilot program.
Curriculum and Instruction
- Monitor and evaluate pilot programs via walk-throughs, survey distribution, and data analysis.
- Investigate a system of that allows for the identification of resources to be used in Innovation Hour rooms for projects, rebuilds, etc.
Professional Development
- Provide annual professional development for elementary, middle, and high school GT programs.
- Establish the expectation of peer sharing of professional learning takeaways.
- Identify calendar days on which to host symposiums throughout the year aligned with district professional learning days.
- Ensure FBISD administrators, teachers, counselors, and selection committee members all have required GT training and provide opportunity for FBISD Board to receive training to ensure accountability based on the Texas State Plan for the Education of GT students.
- Ensure proper GT Learning Plan protocols are followed and forms are modified as needed.
- Have in place a GT Professional Learning Credentialing Subcommittee to develop in-district professional certifications to build and enhance critical professional knowledge and skills needed to successfully support gifted learners.
Family-Community Involvement
- Reorganize resources on the website to ensure efficient access for all stakeholders.
- Create a communications protocol to inform stakeholders of new policy and administrative procedures, parent education, expectations regarding delivery of GT services and new initiatives in programming.
- Communicate GT students' opportunities to participate in activities that provide them settings in which to conduct research, develop sophisticated products, and present their work to authentic audiences.
- Maintain a communication plan to continue to keep stakeholders informed of any and all updates/improvements/opportunities in the GT department.
