• FBISD TEFA APEX-ESA PROCESS

Senate Bill (SB) 2 allows parents to apply for Education Savings Accounts (ESAs), which can be used to pay for approved educational expenses. To carry out this legislation, the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts (CPA) is launching the Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) program beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. Individual student accounts under this program are referred to as Education Freedom Accounts (EFAs).

As part of the EFA application process, school districts are required to submit a child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) information to a system managed by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).  If a student has already been found eligible for special education and related services and the IEP submission is the only remaining requirement for the family’s EFA application, Fort Bend ISD (FBISD) will upload the student’s IEP information before the APEX-ESA and CPA application deadline of March 17, 2026.

Please complete the link below if you have a child who is eligible for special education, is not currently enrolled in FBISD, and you are interested in applying for additional TEFA funding.
