Many technology apps, tools, and software products come out every year. As a district we strive to be at the forefront in innovation and pedagogical practices, but we also work to keep our students safe. When looking for a tool for your classroom or before submitting one for review please take a moment to check things such as the tools privacy policy and other sections such as unfiltered galleries or how the tool requires students to save their work. Check to see if the vendor collects user data. These little things can impact if a tool can be used safely with different levels of students.
A starting point is Common Sense Education. This site reviews many tools and is a starting point for seeing if a tool will meet the needs of safety and use with our students. Please visit Common Sense Education for additional information on app privacy ratings and reviews.
