• October Celebrations: Farm to School Month & National School Lunch Week

Fort Bend ISD Child Nutrition is celebrating Farm to School Month throughout October with a fresh focus on local agriculture, student wellness, and hands-on learning. As part of the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Farm Fresh Challenge, our team has proudly pledged to reach the Cream of the Crop tier, the highest level of achievement, for the second year in a row!

This month, we’re also spotlighting our hydroponic Flex Farm, where students can see fruits and vegetables growing right on campus. These harvests are making their way into school meals, bringing the farm directly to the cafeteria and connecting students to the source of their food.

To wrap up the month, we’ll celebrate National School Lunch Week from October 27–30, following Fall Break. This week highlights the importance of nutritious school meals and the dedicated staff who serve them daily.

We invite families, staff, and the community to join us in exploring Farm to School resources, supporting local agriculture, and celebrating the power of school meals to nourish and inspire.

  • Taste the World: Celebrating National School Lunch Week!

Fort Bend ISD will celebrate National School Lunch Week (NSLW) from October 27–30. NSLW is a nationwide celebration that highlights the importance of healthy school meals and recognizes the dedicated staff who nourish students every day. This year's theme, "Taste the World," invites students to explore global flavors through their school lunch passport, making each meal a delicious stop on a foodie journey.

Elementary students will travel the world during NSLW, tasting meals from Mexico, Vietnam, India, France, and the U.S. while collecting daily stickers on a poster passport located in the cafeteria. Secondary students will celebrate with our in-house winning recipe from the NSLW Manager Competition, plus various resources and activities to engage students in the celebration. Tell your student(s) to get ready; we're serving up a world tour right on their lunch tray!
