-
Why is FBISD making this change?
The transition to Finalsite Composer will improve how our community accesses information by providing:
- Easier navigation and clearer organization
- Better performance and reliability
- Improved accessibility
- Mobile-first design for phones and tablets
- A more consistent experience across all FBISD websites
This change supports more effective communication with students, families, staff, and the community.
-
What is changing?
Fort Bend ISD is transitioning from our current website platform, Finalsite Web Community Manager (WCM), to Finalsite Composer, a new district-wide website platform. This transition will result in updated websites for the district, campuses, departments, and programs.
-
When will the new websites launch?
The transition will take place June 12, 2026, with phased communication, preparation, and training throughout the spring semester. Specific launch timelines will be shared as we move closer to implementation.
-
Will all campuses and departments get new websites?
Yes. This is a districtwide transition. All campuses, departments, and programs will move to the new platform to ensure consistency and ease of use across FBISD.
-
Will website addresses (URLs) change?
Yes. As part of our transition to Composer, we’re also moving from a .com domain to .gov. That means our subdomains will change as well. For example, what used to be fortbendisd.com/chs will become the cleaner, more secure format: chs.fortbendisd.gov.
-
Will content from current websites be moved to the new platform?
Yes but there are limits. Existing content will be migrated as part of the transition process, but files, inactive pages, expired pages, and icons will not migrate. This also provides an opportunity to refresh, streamline, and improve how information is presented.
-
How will this affect staff who manage website content?
Staff who update or manage website content will receive:
• Clear timelines
• Training on Finalsite Composer
• Clear guidance and support throughout the transition
More information will be shared during the education and readiness phases. -
Will families need to do anything?
No action is required at this time. Families will continue to access school and district information as usual. Any changes that impact users will be clearly communicated ahead of time.
-
How does this improve accessibility?
Finalsite Composer is designed to better support accessibility standards, helping ensure website content is usable for individuals with diverse needs and assistive technologies.
