How do I initiate a student transfer request for my student?
Student transfer requests are initiated by completing the online student transfer application during the designated application window for your student. The application link is located on the Department of Student Affairs student transfer webpage.

If my student is currently on a special circumstance transfer, do I need to renew their application annually?
Yes, if your student currently has an approved special circumstance transfer, you will need to renew your request during the designated application window for your student to remain at the transfer campus.

If my student is currently on an employee student transfer, do I need to renew their application annually?
Yes, if your student currently has an approved employee transfer, you will need to renew your request during the designated application window for your student to remain at the transfer campus.

Can I submit a transfer request for a sibling to attend the campus of my Pre-K student?
No, Pre-K is not a mandatory program. Therefore, a sibling of a Pre-K student does not qualify for a transfer to the relocated campus.

Can I submit a transfer request to a school that I feel is closer or is on my route to work?
No. Proximity is not a valid reason listed in the FBISD Student Transfer Guidelines.

How many times may I request a transfer for my student?
Approvals are per school year. Transfers must be renewed annually during your student’s designated timeframe posted on the webpage.

What are the approved reasons for a transfer?
A student may be eligible to request a transfer for the following reasons:
- Student is a child of a full-time, benefits eligible district employee.
- Student is the victim of a documented physical assault, and the student committing the assault is at the victim's home campus (documentation is required)
- Student is the victim of documented bullying (determination of bully by campus is required).
- Student has been diagnosed with a serious medical/mental/psychological health condition documented by appropriate licensed medical personnel, and there is documentation that the student’s identified needs cannot be met at the home campus.
- Student is a sibling of a current transfer student and is requesting to attend the same campus. A sibling of a Pre-K student does not qualify for a transfer to the Pre-K student's relocated campus.
- Documented unresolved student conflict exists even after home campus and parents have exhausted all resources and efforts to address concerns (verification by campus executive director is required)
- Change of Residence (documentation of new residence required)

What are the reasons for denial of a transfer?
Reasons for denying or revoking a transfer include, but are not limited to, the following:
- The transfer request was submitted before the appropriate application window opens or after appropriate transfer application deadline closes.
- Student does not meet transfer eligibility criteria for the requested transfer.
- Student has been granted a transfer for the current school year.
- Student’s transfer was revoked at the end of the current school year. End of year revocations impact a student eligibility to renew a student transfer for the upcoming school year.
- Student has documented level two and higher violations of the Student Code of Conduct that have resulted in in-school suspension or out of school suspension.
- Student has a disciplinary infraction that mandated removal to a DAEP, DEP, or JJAEP in current school year or previous school year.
- Student has documented poor attendance and/or documented truancy.
- Parent/guardian and student no longer lives in a residence is zoned to a FBISD campus.
- Parent/guardian is no longer a full-time, benefits-eligible employee of FBISD.
- FBISD employee is not the student’s parent or legal guardian.
- The requested campus is closed for student transfers.
- Student is enrolled on a Power of Attorney or Intent to Reside.
- Required documentation for proof of employment, legal guardianship, or student’s participation in a Special Program, (i.e., Special Education, 504, etc.) was false, incomplete, or not uploaded into the application within the designated acceptance window.
- Student transfer request is for the purpose of participating in an extra-curricular activity at receiving transfer campus.
- Parent/guardian or student has falsified information on the transfer request.
- Student is not currently enrolled in FBISD and is not attending the zoned campus.
- Student was withdrawn from a FBISD program of choice.
- Student has a felony or misdemeanor criminal conviction.

If I move and want my student to attend the campus I am now zoned to, do I submit a transfer request?
No, you will not need to submit a transfer request if your student will be attending his/her zoned campus. You will need to contact the campus registrar and provide them with an updated proof of residence (lease agreement, closing statement, utility bill – water, gas, or electric). The registrar will update your child’s information in Skyward.

What is the length of an approved transfer?
An approved transfer is for one school year and is renewed annually.

If I move and want my student to attend the campus I am now zoned to, do I submit a transfer request?
No, you will not need to submit a transfer request if your student will be attending his/her zoned campus. You will need to contact the campus registrar and provide them with an updated proof of residence (lease agreement, closing statement, utility bill – water, gas, or electric). The registrar will update your child’s information in Skyward.

If I move out of Fort Bend ISD, can my child remain in Fort Bend ISD schools?
No, if your residence is outside of the Fort Bend ISD boundaries, and your student is in grades K -11 your student is no longer eligible to attend a Fort Bend ISD school. High school seniors who move out of the district after the start of their senior year may be allowed to complete their education in Fort Bend ISD. The student’s attendance and behavior will be reviewed to determine the approval or denial of the transfer request.

How is UIL participation impacted by a transfer?
A student’s participation in UIL activities shall be in accordance with all applicable UIL regulations and Board policies. Varsity athletic participation shall be based on UIL residency requirements during grades 8- 12. Please consult with the FBISD Athletics department to determine eligibility. Which employees are eligible to apply for a student transfer?
Employee student transfers are available to the students of full-time, benefits eligible employees. The employee must be the student’s parent or legal guardian and the student must be in grades K-12.

Will my child receive transportation (bus) services if their student transfer is approved?
No, transportation is not provided for approved transfers. Parents are responsible for providing transportation to and from school.

I am completing a new transfer request, am I able to request a specific campus on the student transfer application?
Yes. A list of campuses open for transfer students is available in the transfer application. You will be allowed to identify three open campuses for consideration, in preferential order, on the online student transfer application.

How will I know when my student Transfer application has been received or the status of my application?
Once the online application is submitted, you should receive a message that the application was successfully submitted. Once your application has been processed, you will receive an email acknowledging the approval or denial of the transfer. If denied, the email will also include the reason.
