Katie Clayton
Katie Clayton serves as the Arts Integration Specialist for the Fine Arts Department in Fort Bend ISD. This is her tenth year in education. She began her career as a Teaching Artist at The Alley Theatre in downtown Houston, Texas, where she impacted thousands of students across the Greater Houston Area through the Arts Integration initiative, Staging STEM. She joined Fort Bend ISD in 2017, serving as a Middle School Theatre Director, then Elementary Theatre Arts Integration outclass teacher before moving into her current leadership role.
With the support of the Fine Arts Department, Katie has built the Arts Integration program from the ground up. Arts Integration is an innovative and powerful instructional tool, meeting evolving objectives in both a core content and an art form such as theatre or music. She supports Fort Bend ISD educators and students of all grade levels and content areas by crafting original curricula and resources, and providing engaging, memorable and meaningful instruction in any classroom she has the pleasure of working in.
Katie is an active member of the Texas Educational Theatre Association and the Texas Music Educators Association. She is respected in the specialized field of Arts Integration and has led professional development opportunities and one-on-one coaching to teachers in the Houston area. Katie earned her Bachelor's Degree of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Houston. When she isn't working, you can find her cooking, reading, gardening, traveling to the Hill Country of Texas, and trying to keep up with her energetic toddler.
