Energy Star
-
Energy Star is a voluntary program of the United States Environmental Protection Agency designed to help building operators benchmark their energy efficiency against other like type buildings in similar environments. What that means is when Fort Bend ISD submits energy data, we are compared to other K-12 school districts in the same climate as South Texas.
To date, 17 Fort Bend ISD schools have received Energy Star recognized status. This status is achieved when a building is determined to more energy-efficient than 75 percent of its peers in the benchmark group! Through June 2016, 78 percent of the schools in Fort Bend ISD are above average compared to peer schools for energy use.
