• Database Administration (DBA)

  • Overview: Database Administration (DBA) is a part of Information Services, provides a complete end-to-end service for the administration of Microsoft SQL Server Databases, including maintenance, monitoring, and backup. DBA delivers Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration services to all FBISD departments. The DBA services provides support of production, test and development databases. Besides the daily administrative tasks and activities, the production servers monitored continuously for any potential problems so that it can address in a timely manner without causing any service disruption.

     

    Benefits and features: Real time monitoring of all Microsoft SQL Server production database servers. The DBA services also proactively applies security patches, tunes production database environments, rapidly responds to critical issues, ensures backup and recovery capabilities, prevents database outages, and works directly with the client to solve database issues. DBA services takes necessary action to upgrade to new releases as requested by the client or as needed to avoid Microsoft support.

     

    Who is eligible to use the service: All Fort bend ISD departments.

     

    How to request access to the service: By submitting a service request through the Support Portal, under Database Administration Section

     

    Alias Information/Service History: We currently provides real time monitoring and support to Microsoft SQL Server version ranging from 2012 to 2019.

     

    Related services: Microsoft SQL Server software installations and configuration. Execute developer scripts against test and production environment. General DBA assistance or support unrelated to existing Database Administration & Support services.
