ESSER III Information
In March, President Joe Biden signed the American Rescue Plan (ARP) into law. ARP includes $122 billion in Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds for school districts across the country, which is the single largest investment in federal elementary and secondary education in the nation’s history. This is the third law providing funding as a response to the pandemic, the ARP is also referred to as ARP ESSER III or ESSER III.
Fort Bend ISD will apply to receive these federal grant funds, and the District is launching a comprehensive stakeholder engagement process to help determine how to potentially spend these federal grant funds to address learning loss and COVID-19 recovery. Stakeholder engagement is also needed to gather input regarding return in-person instruction and continuity of services plans and protocols.
School districts are limited to the use of ESSER III funds and request your input to determine priorities with these federal grant funds. The following stakeholder groups are encouraged to complete the survey: All parents, students, district employees, civil rights organizations, and any other stakeholders representing the interests of children with disabilities, English Learners, children experiencing homelessness, children and youth in foster care, migratory students, children who are incarcerated and other underserved students.
