The Fort Bend ISD MatchBook! Reading Competition is designed to promote and foster a love of reading in students. Reading as a team, students who are strong readers model their love of reading to their peers and develop leadership and team building skills. Less enthusiastic readers are exposed to various of types of reading and have an opportunity to read high quality books to encourage future book selection. Matchbook! motivates all students to find their perfect book match!

The lists are balanced overall to provide student readers a wide selection of genres such as contemporary fiction, non-fiction, mystery, poetry and other more specifically themed books. During the contest, student teams respond to quotations from books or questions about theme, characters, setting or plot.
