New legislation in Texas provides parents and guardians with greater transparency and control over the library materials available to their children.

The law also prohibits the purchase of library materials considered harmful, indecent or profane based on community standards and requires school board approval for all library books after a public listing period.  

Parents have the right to access library catalogs, review materials their children check out and submit lists of books their children are not permitted to access through the Guardian Engagement platform.

How to Access Guardian Engagement

The week of October 1, parents/guardians will receive two emails from smtp.tlc@fortbendisd.gov.

1. One email will include your System ID.
2. A second email will include your PIN Number.

How to View Library Catalogs

• View the Fort Bend ISD Catalog.  
• You can find a link to a specific campus catalog under the Library & Media section of their website.
