• Server Patch Management

  • Overview: Server Patch Management is a systematic process of identifying, acquiring, testing, deploying, and verifying updates—commonly known as patches—on servers. These patches address security vulnerabilities, bug fixes, and enhance performance or functionality in operating systems and firmware.

According to the NIST publication NIST SP 800-40 Rev. 4, patch management is essential for correcting security and functionality problems in software and firmware. Without it, organizations risk preventable compromises.

Benefits and Features: Enhanced Security, Improved System Stability and Performance, Regulatory Compliance, Operational Efficiency, Reduced Attack Surface.

Patching Schedule: Servers designated for Test/Dev environments or classified as minimal risk will be patched from 6:00 PM on Wednesday through 6:59 AM on Thursday, following the second Tuesday of each month.

This is immediately followed by patching of production servers, which occurs the same weekend, starting at 6:00 AM on Saturday and concluding by 11:00 PM on Saturday.
