  • Brief History

The International Business & Marketing Academy (IBMA) was originally established in 2009 at Bush HS in Fort Bend ISD and celebrated its first graduating class in 2013. The program was conceived as a dynamic four-year program that would enhance the high school core curriculum by emphasizing marketing, business, foreign languages, and international studies. Students followed a four-by-four core model and chose a specialization track from three career pathways: accounting/finance, business, or marketing/management.

With the implementation of Texas House Bill 5, the course sequence of IBMA was reevaluated to provide for specific career pathways in compliance with the new Texas graduation plan. Beginning with the class of 2019, students take a prescribed course sequence consisting of 5 credits providing them with insight into all aspects of the business world from marketing, finance, law, management, and business. In addition, the 2015-2016 school year marks another historical change as the program begins its transition to its new campus, Travis HS. As the program continues to grow and develop, we can expect to see exciting things from our students.
