The Global Studies Academy (GSA) was originally established in 2008 at Clements HS in Fort Bend ISD as the Global Languages Academy (GLA). Under the original program students explored multiple world languages by taking five credits between two world languages offered at Clements HS. The GLA celebrated its first graduating class in 2012. After a series of program evaluations, national comparisons/study, and community feedback, the program went under a transformation to become more comprehensive and became the Global Studies Academy.

 

The Global Studies Academy began the 2011-2012 school year and implemented a new track for incoming freshmen. The track focuses on humanities and culture as language playing a key role in that learning. Students focus on global topics and take part in a rigorous curriculum that connects ELA, Social Studies, and World Languages in order to prepare them for an interconnected world and global economy. In addition students must participate in cultural enrichment activities and community service. Beginning with the 2015-2016 school year, the Global Studies Academy began its transition to its new campus, Travis HS. As the program continues to grow and develop, we can expect to see exciting things from our students.
