    Balancing of enrollment at First Colony Middle School and Fort Settlement Middle School

    March 26 Update: During the March 25 Board meeting, the FBISD Board of Trustees voted to balance enrollment between First Colony Middle School and Fort Settlement Middle School. Newly-adopted boundaries.

    Following the Board action, FBISD will communicate with the families affected and ensure that students are supported during the transition.


    Background information: During the February 18 Board meeting, the FBISD administration presented its annual enrollment review, which includes the most updated demographic projections from a third party demographer. Following the annual enrollment review, FBISD is expediting a boundary planning process to balance enrollment between First Colony Middle School and Fort Settlement Middle School in the central area of the District.

    January 25, 2019 Update

    On Tuesday, January 22, the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees adopted attendance boundaries for Malala Yousafzai Elementary.*


    • Phase one (2019-20)*: The adopted boundaries for Malala Yousafzai Elementary keep all students within the existing Madden Elementary boundary at either Madden Elementary or Yousafzai Elementary, and lays the groundwork for the opening of a new elementary school in the future, and classroom additions at Oakland Elementary and Patterson Elementary in the 2024-25 school year, which would be included in the next bond cycle.


    • Phase two (2020-21): For the 2020-21 school year, after Malala Yousafzai Elementary opens, there will be slight modifications to the Oyster Creek Elementary attendance boundaries.

    Note: Following the approval of attendance boundaries, Fort Bend ISD will take all actions to ensure successful implementation and to support all students during the transition, and will be contacting families of affected students directly during the spring regarding the implementation.    


    High School Attendance Boundaries

    On Tuesday, January 22, 2019, the Fort Bend ISD administration presented a comprehensive plan related to high schools in the southeast portion of the District that will keep all current attendance boundaries in place for at least the next two school years, while Fort Bend ISD expedites the construction of a new high school. Fort Bend ISD is currently negotiating the purchase of 80 acres of land for High School 12, which is located off of FM 521, near the Ferndell Henry Center for Learning.
