Each year, the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees invites enrolled 10th grade students who are interested in developing their leadership during their junior and senior years to apply for participation in the Fort Bend ISD Student Leadership 101 Program. Through a series of seven monthly seminars, selected participants explore their personal roles in community and school leadership, as well as volunteer service. Students interact with leaders from various fields to gain insight about leadership. School Board members sponsor and attend the student seminars focused on topics such as personal leadership skills, youth advocacy, service and volunteerism, local government in action, business, and health care. Students are taken into the community to see leadership in action.
The cohort consists of 33 students, with representation from all high schools in the district. It is our goal to have a diverse and inclusive cohort of students. Applicants should be in good academic and behavioral standing; have an interest in developing their personal leadership skills; have obtained the written permission of their parents and school principal; and be willing to accept the attendance expectations before submitting an application.
