The Student Voice Advisory Network is a superintendent-led initiative that brings together students from each of the 12 FBISD high schools to participate in day-long meetings each month that develop student’s leadership, advocacy skills and stakeholder engagement. Student Ambassadors also elevate the student voice in decision-making at the district and campus levels and regularly advise district officials on policy and program matters. VOICES is also responsible for planning and running the district-wide High School Student VOICES Summit annually.

Three students are selected to represent each campus and are eligible to apply during Spring of their Freshman, Sophomore and Junior years. Students will serve a one-and-a-half-year term and may be eligible to apply for the following year as a Lead VOICES Ambassador. This is a one-and-a-half-year commitment (February 2025 - April 2026) and attendance is mandatory at all meetings. Upon failure to attend two meetings, students will be replaced by the next qualified candidate from their school.

Applicants should be in good standing based upon grades, attendance, and behavior; have an interest in developing their personal leadership skills; have permission from their parents or guardians; and be willing to accept the attendance and participation expectations.

If selected, participants are required to attend each 2025 - 2026 meeting in its entirety. Full-day meetings are scheduled monthly during the school year.   Students will miss their classes for these monthly meetings, but they will not be considered an absence on the campus.

All leadership meetings will be at a district site and begin at 7:30 a.m. and end at 2:00 p.m. District transportation to and from the meeting sites will be provided for all students, if needed. Students who have the written permission of their caregiver/parent may drive to the FBISD Administration Building or identified district site. Students needing district transportation for the program will utilize the Elkins Academy Bus Routes and will be confirmed prior to the first meeting.

Students will be provided with a light breakfast, lunch and beverages for all meetings.

Application window opens: Friday, January 17th
Application window closes: Sunday, February 2nd at 11:59PM. Applicants will be notified of the decision on Wednesday, February 26th.**
First Meeting: Tuesday, March 18, 2025.**
