Students required to wear newly issued ID badges
-
This year, the district is providing students with school ID badges, which they are required to wear at all times at school and on buses.
By Monday, August 19, 2024, most FBISD students will have been issued their badges.
The process of photographing and creating badges for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students should be completed over the next several weeks.
The benefits of ID badges are:
- Increased security on school campuses – badges provide a quick way to know when someone may be trespassing onto a campus.
- Ease of transactions in cafeterias and libraries – badges may be used to purchase meals and check out books.
- Use with new Stopfinder bus software – bus riders will scan their badges when they get on and off buses to provide parents and school staff with nearly real-time information about bus arrival times and confirmation that students are on the right bus.
The district is in Phase 1 of using Stopfinder bus software. During the initial phase, the district will ensure Stopfinder is programmed to provide the most accurate data to parents and school staff.
During Phase 2, the parent app will be activated. Parents will receive a notification when the app is ready for downloading.
Stopfinder Bus Software Launches in Coming Weeks
-
The district will soon launch its Stopfinder bus software system which will allow parents and school staff to verify route information, arrival times and confirmation that students are on the right bus.
The system will provide almost real-time, accurate information about students’ ridership.
The system is secure and only accessible for authorized registered users.
Students will use ID badges to scan when they get on or exit a bus. The badges will help drivers ensure students are on the right bus and being picked up or dropped off at the right stop.
Badges can also be used at school in the cafeteria and in the library to check out books.
All FBISD students will receive ID badges, protective sleeves and lanyards for the start of school and be expected to wear them at school and on the bus.
A few weeks after the start of school, the Stopfinder program will launch and parents will receive a notice to download the Stopfinder app on their smartphones.
The district will provide additional information when the app is ready to be downloaded.
Use of the Stopfinder system is one of the newest resources FBISD is utilizing to ensure our students remain safe and secure throughout the school day and beyond.
