The Math & Science Academy exists to provide students opportunities to advance through a specialized series of courses to prepare them for careers in math and science fields. Emphasis is placed on the significance of math and science in a modern society propelled by daily technological innovation. Through the power of math and science, solutions to the world’s innumerable problems can be devised, ranging from rapid climate change with environmental science to building the most profitable, sustainable business with calculus.
2017-2018 High School Academy Previews
The FBISD Advanced Academics Department is pleased to announce several events for prospective students currently in the 8th grade. Two identical Previews of all six high school academies will be held at two separate locations on two different dates. Eighth grade students and parents may pre register and cycle through all six presentations or choose only those which interest them. We encourage attending all sessions but recognize that all families may not be able to attend for the full two hour event. The preview will serve as an overview for each program and help students decide which academies they would like to know more about. All six academies will have a more in depth opportunity to hear about their program at their open houses. Please see each academy page for those dates.
East Side Location: Hightower High School, October 11, 2017 from 7 - 8:30 pm
West Side Location: Travis High School, October 19, 2017 from 7 - 8:30 pm
Application Information may be viewed here but the online application will not be available until November 1, 2017.
An FAQ is provided to help understand the High School Academy Acceptance Process.
Please feel free to contact any of the academy coordinators if you have any additional questions.
