Derrick Ward currently serves as General Counsel for Fort Bend Independent School District, offering advice and counsel on legal matters impacting the District.

Ward has served public education clients in a variety of roles, including as internal and external counsel for public school districts throughout Texas, and held previous positions advancing public education with the U.S. Department of Education and the National Education Association. Prior to law school, Ward taught Advanced Placement U.S. Government & Politics to high school seniors.

He holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Cornell University.
