MISSION STATEMENTThe Medical Science Academy exists to provide students opportunities to explore world-class medical facilities and position themselves for medicalcareers. The Academy offers four years of robust curriculum focused on a variety of medical science topics. With the knowledge and practical skills obtained, Academy students graduate with a decided advantage over others competing to enter collegiate medical programs. Academy curriculum features a comprehensive progression of courses ranging from basic medical concepts to advanced diagnostics.

Programs of Choice Recruitment
- Presentation held for all 8th graders across all 15 middle school campuses.
- Parents received program information via email.
- Virtual information session opportunity for students and the community.
- In-person information session opportunity for students and the community.
- Information shared through social media posts and on the FBISD website.
November 1 – 30, 2024
(Extended to December 6) (2025 only)
Application Window
This is the time for current 8th graders zoned to Fort Bend ISD to apply for the Programs of Choice, including Academies, P-TECH, and Early College programs.
December 9 – 20, 2024
Validation Window
During this period, applications will undergo a validation process*. Valid applicants will receive an email inviting them to complete a video interview and/or entrance exam, depending on the programs they applied to.
*The validation process confirms that students are zoned to Fort Bend ISD and meet academic criteria, including proficiency in their 7th-grade grades and relevant STAAR or equivalent test scores.
January 11, 2025
Humanities Academies Video Interview Due
Valid humanities academy applicants will submit their video interview.
STEM Academy Entrance Exam
Valid STEM applicants will take the STEM Academy Entrance Exam, which consists of 25 8th-grade level math and science questions. Students will have 1.5 hours to complete the exam, and calculators will be provided.
February 11 – 18, 2025
Priority 1 Acceptance
Students who qualify for their Priority 1 selection will receive an email offering them the opportunity to commit to their Priority 1 academy.
February 19 – 26, 2025
General Acceptance
Students who qualify for one or more academies will receive an email with the opportunity to commit to a single program.
March 3 – March 7, 2025
Waitlisted Acceptance
Students on the waitlist will receive an email with the opportunity to commit to a program if space becomes available for them.
March 17, 2025
Academy Cohorts Selection Complete
Academy cohorts for the Class of 2029 are final.
April 2025
Commitment Ceremonies
Academy commitment ceremonies will be held at each respective hosting campus.

The Medical Science Academy Visit The Health Museum!
Our Medical Science juniors and seniors had the opportunity to visit The Health Museum, and it was an amazing experience! Students had the chance to practice suturing techniques while also learning about the science and reasons behind each step. A big thank you to our Med Sci students for being so engaged and enthusiastic throughout the hands-on learning experience!

Med Sci Junior, Renee Yu wins first place medal at the National SkillsUSA State Conference in Kentucky this past summer 2017.

MedSci Student Completed UH Pharmacy Summer Camp
Senior Medical Science Academy student, Justin Lee, received his participation certification for attending the UH Pharmacy summer camp this past summer 2017. During the camp he participated in research at the UHCOP labs and shadowed current practicing pharmacists.

MedSci Academy Alum- UT Houston Med Students
On November 3, 2015 the MedSci Academy took 42 freshman to tour the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Students had the opportunity to hear from two MedSci Academy Alum, now UT Houston med students.
