FBISD READING ACADEMIES

INFORMATION AND IMPLEMENTATION
Fort Bend ISD Designated as House Bill 3 Reading Academies Authorized Provider
House Bill 3 (HB 3), passed by the 86th Texas Legislature in June 2019, mandates that all kindergarten through third grade teachers and principals complete a "teacher literacy achievement academy." This requirement applies to all K-3 educators, including special education teachers, as well as campus principals, through participation in the HB 3 Reading Academies.
Texas Reading Academies Content includes learning in the following modules:
- Introduction, Overview, Scope and Sequence
- Science of Teaching Reading
- Establishing a Literacy Community
- Using Assessment Data to Inform Instruction
- Oral Language
- Phonological Awareness
- Alphabet Knowledge, Print Concepts, and Handwriting
- Decoding, Encoding, and Word Study
- Reading Fluency
- Reading Comprehension
- Writing Composition
- Putting It All Together
