Fort Bend ISD (February 5, 2025) – Ridge Point High School alum and Olympic gold medalist Bryce Deadmon delivered an inspirational message to student athletes on National Signing Day.

Ninety-two student athletes from 11 FBISD high schools officially committed to playing college sports during a special ceremony, surrounded by family, friends and coaches.

Reflecting on his own signing day in spring 2015, when he committed, Deadmon reminisced about the day he signed his letter of intent to attend Texas A&M University.

“This was the day I had been thinking of my entire athletic career,” Deadmon said. “And now your time has finally come. The spotlight is on you – rightfully so.”

He recalled the anxiety of waiting for his first offer to come and all the extra effort he put in to stand out.

“Like me, I know you all just wanted the opportunity to show someone what you were capable of,” he said. “You solidified that today you’re on your way to furthering your education while continuing to play the sport you love.”

Deadmon left the athletes with words of encouragement.

“You may have people, coaches, spectators telling you what you can and can't accomplish, but remember – someone had to fly to outer space to see the moon and stars before people started saying to shoot for them,” he said. “You earned the right to be sitting here today. Keep doing what you did to get to this point and continue to refine yourselves not only as athletes, but as a person,” he said.

Deadmon won gold and silver medals in the 4x400 men’s and mixed relays at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. He previously won a gold medal from the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021.
