Six FBISD students win “I Am Texas” annual writing, art competition
Fort Bend ISD (September 18, 2024) – Six Fort Bend ISD students earned awards in this year’s “I Am Texas” competition.
Hosted by The Bryan Museum in Galveston, students in grades 2 - 12 competed in several categories embracing the I Am Texas theme, including art, letter writing and short stories.
The 2024 FBISD winners are:
- Aaryahi Chandrayan, Malala Elementary, Top Writer Elementary School Letter Writing for "Dear Mary Ann 'Molly' Goodnight" - $50 prize, and Top Artist Elementary School for Half a Longhorn at Half Sundown - $50 prize
- Isabella Jin, Fort Settlement Middle School, Top Artist Middle School for One in a Million - $100 prize
- Wenbei Jiang, Austin High School, 3rd Place High School Art for Pioneer Spirit - $250 prize
- Anant Asthana, Dulles High School, Honorable Mention High School Writing for "My First Ride"
- Amy Wang, Elkins High School, Honorable Mention High School Art for Morning Light
- Aleeza Zaheer, Ridge Point High School, Honorable Mention High School Art for Comforting Cuddles
The FBISD students, along with other winners throughout the state, are invited to a special reception on November 24th at The Bryan Museum in Galveston, where the winning art is on display. Also, winning art and writing submissions will be published in the Historian’s Journal, which will become part of the museum’s permanent library collection.
