Ms. Payne

Currently, I am the teacher of AP Human Geography (9th Grade) and AP European History. This is my 7th year at Elkins and my 10th year teaching. I got my start teaching in private school until I made the switch a few years ago after returning to the Houston area to be closer to my family.

I'm privileged to be the World Geography Team Learning Lead and a Curriculum Writer for the district as well as a member of the Elkins AVID Site Team. I'm also the sponsor of Students Standing Strong, which is a Christian club that focuses on developing leadership and stewardship skills, and I coach Social Studies UIL, which won District and made it to Regionals this past year. As a member of the Social Studies Department, I am always moving forward and looking to get better! Our department is the best on campus, and we work hard to keep it that way!

Teaching at Elkins is like coming home. I graduated from Dulles High School and have lived in Ft. Bend most of my life. I am truly blessed to be working with so many great educators and students here at Elkins.

Students Standing Strong (S3) is a non-denominational Christian club here at Elkins High School! We meet Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00 pm in Ms. Payne’s (our great sponsor) room 104 to fellowship and learn God’s word together for now. Our meetings consist of games, lessons, small groups, and prayer. We are intentional about praying for Elkins High School and go pray-walking around the campus once a month. The curriculum we will be going over this year is mainly focused on the book of James. Our topic this year is “Get Real! Live What You Believe”.

We are part of a larger organization called Students Standing Strong. Below I will attach their website with more information about this club’s values and beliefs.

Although this is a Christian club, we welcome people from all different religious backgrounds to come to join us! We hope you can join us

    Mission Verse:

19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always,[c] to the end of the age.”

    Matthew 28:19-20

Mission Statement- Learn God’s Word, Live God’s Word, Reach the lost through God’s Word

I would also like to remind you to join our Remind to stay connected with us!
