Coach Cavallin graduated from Saint Leo University earning his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. After a brief career in Law Enforcement, Coach Cavallin began his teaching career at Matthey Middle School in Southside ISD near San Antonio. A year later, he opened a brand new middle school at Northside ISD in San Antonio at Bernal Middle School, where he was the teacher for the Behavior Management Classroom, as well as moving to the Social Studies and Physical Education Departments. His coaching duties included football, boys and girls basketball, track and golf, where his student athletes won multiple zone championships in all sports.  Coach Cavalin spent the last three years teaching World Geography, Government, Economics and US History at John Jay High School in San Antonio, where he coached football and softball. At Jay he helped coach the varsity football team to the third round of the UIL State Playoffs for the first time in school history. He is excited to begin his 14th year in education as he joins the community and staff at Elkins.

Coach Cavallin is supported by his wife of 23 years, Karen, who is a science teacher at Bowie Middle School and his four children, Kaitlyn, who recently graduated from Kansas State University and is a Project Engineer for DPR in Dallas, Courtney, who is a Senior at Sul Ross State University and is majoring in Kinesiology, Erik a sophomore in the College of Engineering at Kansas State and Cayden who will be a Freshman at Tarleton State University this fall majoring in Agribusiness.
