According to the Fort Bend ISD Student Handbook and Board Policy, for a student to receive credit or a final grade in a class, a kindergarten–grade 12 student must attend at least 90 percent of the days the class is offered. Your child has exceeded the absences allowed in Fall 2024. Below are the hours you must make up before earning credit for the course required for graduation.
Your child can begin to make up hours by completing one of the following options: 1) Attend Saturday Detention or PM Detention, 2) Attend tutorials with a teacher, 3) Attend Credit Recovery after school on Mondays/Wednesdays, and/or 4) Attend Lunch Detention (first come, first served bases --- can get full quickly, so this may not always be an option or available). Tutorials sessions are before school or after school only in the subject area in which the credit was lost.
These hours must be made up by Friday, May 2, 2025 (however, we are highly recommending a due date of March 7, 2025 ---- you never know if you could owe credit restoration for Spring 2025), or your child will not regain credit for the course(s) listed above. If you wish to appeal the denial of credit due to excessive absences, you must e-mail your alpha-administrator or Mr. Campbell, Associate Principal, as early as possible. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s administrator.
