I am incredibly excited be a part of the Elkins family as the girls' physical education teacher and head volleyball coach. I am in my 4th year in Fort Bend ISD and year 18 of education.
After coaching collegiate volleyball for ten years, I am completely overjoyed to be a part of this community. I'm a Houston native but was raised in Navasota, Texas, where I played volleyball and softball and was a part of the Region VII High School Rodeo team. After high school, I continued my volleyball career at Tyler Jr. College while joining the first team in TJC history to qualify for a national tournament. After a knee injury, my playing career ended, but my coaching career was right around the corner. In 2006, I started as the assistant volleyball coach at TJC, but soon after, began my career as the head volleyball coach at Wiley College. In 2008, I led Wiley on a 22-game winning streak and to the NAIA National Volleyball Tournament, the first Lady Wildcats trip in school history. After a three-year stint at Wiley, I experienced coaching at many other Division I universities and junior colleges.
My greatest joy is building relationships and connecting with people in different ways. I enjoy taking my life lessons and sharing them to help others.
I received my bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Wiley College and my master's in sports management from Dallas Baptist University.
I am married to Curtis Bason Jr., the girl's head basketball coach at North Shore High School. We have two sons (Conner and Collin).
