Mr. Matthew R Richards

Hi there, I'm Professor Matthew R. Richards.  I have taught a mix of college level English, dual credit English, and high school English since January of 2009.  I am also a professional writer and editor.   I have a Bachelor's degree in Literature with a minor in History from the University of North Texas where I graduated in May of 2007, Go Mean Green Eagles!!  I have a Master's degree in Literature from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, where I graduated in December of 2008. Go Cougars!!   Although I grew up and have lived my entire life in Texas, most of my mother's side of the family lives in Louisville and Bardstown, Kentucky, so it has become my second home.  I also have friends and family that live in many states.  I love to travel and see concerts as well as attend baseball games. My teams are the Houston Astros, Boston Red Sox, and Chicago Cubs.

I teach English 3 and Dual Credit English 4 here at Elkins High School.   This is my 4th year with FBISD and 1st year at Elkins.  I was at Willowridge for my first 3 years in the district.  I am happy to be in my new role as an embedded Dual Credit English teacher at Elkins!  Go Knights!

Please use the Schoology site for English 3 coursework and the Canvas site for Dual Credit English 4 work for HCC.
