Premio de Honor

The Premio de Honor is awarded to the best graduating senior member of the chapter. To be eligible for this award, the candidate must be enrolled in a Spanish course. The Premio de Honor Award has been established to recognize outstanding students for their dedication, strong character, and work ethics. Those selected will be nominated by their current teachers. Then, the SHH officers will make the final decision based on the senior's performance in the SHH chapter. The Premio de Honor recipient's name will be posted on the AATSP website and he/she will also be awarded a Certificate of Honor endorsed by the AATSP, a Premio de Honor medal, and will be mentioned on the RPHS Announcement website and eProweler newsletter. SELECTION CRITERIA: Each year SHH will recognize outstanding Spanish language students and highlight their achievements. The recognition will be based on the following criteria:

• Excellence in the study of Spanish and Spanish Culture - extraordinary work ethics and character when collaborating in class and SHH events/activities.
• Motivation - extraordinarily self-driven and self-directed individual who possesses positive thinking to encourage themselves to advance beyond their expectations, both academically and socially.
• Dedication - showing excellent attendance, punctuality, positive attitude, and an overall dedication and desire to see themselves grow when learning Spanish and Hispanic Cultures.

Premios por Servicios

The Certificado por Servicios / Certificado por Serviços is awarded to recognize initiated members who have rendered meritorious service to their Chapter. 

 Premios de Excelencia

The Certificado de Excelencia / Certificado de Excelência is awarded to initiated members, winners in the National Spanish and Portuguese Assessments, or to the initiated member who has achieved the highest grade point average in Spanish or Portuguese for that school year.  Premios de Excelencia recipients will be awarded a Certificate of Excellence endorsed by the AATSP, as well as a Premio de Excelencia pin, and will be mentioned in the RPHS Announcement website.

Albricias Award

For each issue, a selection committee will choose the most outstanding contributions to Albricias in the categories of poetry, prose, and art/photography. Winners in each category will receive a check in the following amounts in recognition of their contribution to the journal:

• first place ($250)
• second place ($100)
• and third place ($50)

STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS:

 The Parra y Sosa Scholarship:

This scholarship is given to a senior student who displays extraordinary leadership abilities to inspire our chapter's members and officers to make a difference in our Hispanich community.  The recipient of this award is selected by the chapter's sponsor, Mrs. Hill. 

Junior Travel Award

The SHH invites outstanding junior class members to apply for special summer 2021 scholarships to the premiere destination for domestic immersion experiences: Concordia Language Villages. We will offer up to 28 scholarships to Spanish or Portuguese immersion programs at Concordia Languages Villages: 2 residential four-week Spanish program awards and 26 Virtual Villages one-week program awards for Spanish and Portuguese. Joseph Adams Senior Award

Each year, the SHH awards scholarships in the amounts of $2000 and $1000 to graduating senior class members of SHH who have shown evidence of high achievement in Spanish or Portuguese throughout high school. Only one application per chapter will be accepted. Applicants will be notified of the result in February. For more information, click here.

Bertie Green Junior Travel Award

Each year over twenty travel awards are awarded to high school juniors who are members of SHH. The students travel to a country or region of the Spanish-speaking world; the departure date for the trip is generally scheduled for mid-July. The next international trip will be in 2022.
