  • Attending Athletic Events at SLMS - REVISED October 16, 2017

    Starting Monday, October 16, 2017, we are adjusting our event attendance procedure to encourage greater student attendance at events and to enhance school spirit. This is a "trial run", so to speak. If it goes well, it will become our permanent procedure. For now this will be on a game-by-game basis. Students wishing to attend an after-school home athletic event (i.e. in the SLMS gymnasium or at Old Kempner Stadium), will:

     

    1. Go home via their regular method (bus, car, bike, rider, walker) - this means no loitering off property in the city park, baseball fields, adjoining properties, or on school grounds
    2. Return to campus no earlier than 15 minutes prior to the start of the event and pay their entry fee to get in (see below)
    3. Exhibit appropriate behavior before, during, and after the event
    4. Remain only in the designated area (the gyms or OKS)
    5. Be picked up no later than 15 minutes after the event is over. Students who do not get picked up within 15 minutes after an event is over (aside from the athletes themselves who are with their coaches) may be prohibited from attending future after-hours events. Please plan accordingly and have a mobile device to contact your ride ahead of time

     

    New for 2017-18: FBISD is charging admission to middle school athletic events (volleyball, football, basketball, and soccer). Admission is $1 for students and $2 adults.

  • Pick-Up/Drop-Off Reminders

    We have no higher obligation to our community than for providing a safe learning environment for our students. Please be mindful that we do not provide supervision of students before school until just before 8:00 and that the building opens to students at 8:20. Also, the Sugar Land Police Department has been issuing citations to drivers who violate the solid white line/dedicated right turn lane into the front circle drive, as well as to those who make a left-hand turn from the circle drive onto Seventh Street during posted hours. Please observe all traffic laws, and remain patient during our pick-up and drop-off processes. Last, students who need to cross Seventh Street may do so at our designated crosswalk that is manned by a crossing guard. It is at the east end of the property. Help us keep your children safe by observing these points.

  • Presentation from Student Assemblies Held September 13, 2017

    Grade-level assemblies were held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. A number of topics were discussed, including general expectations, how to be successful, dress code, academic honesty, and use of digital devices at school. This is the slide deck that was used for the talking points.

  • Tardies to Class

    Please note that starting Wednesday, September 20th, being late to classes will result in tardies counting. We have given students enough time now to know their routines and learn routes to various classes and become accustomed to how much time they have between classes. Moving forward, tardies will count. For a given class, students will receive the following consequences for tardies. This menu starts over each nine weeks.

    • 1st Tardy – Warning
    • 2nd Tardy – Warning and Parent Contact
    • 3rd Tardy – Morning Detention and Parent Contact
    • 4th + Tardy – Referral to Grade Level AP

  • How to Order PE Uniforms

    Follow directions Here.

    Once the order has been placed, the Coaches will get notifications and will distribute uniforms during PE. The size will be determined by the coach. For any additional questions, Please contact Karen.efron@fortbendisd.com

  • Cafeteria Account Options

    Parents—if you would like to place a restriction on your child’s cafeteria account so that they don’t overspend, please download the document and follow the instructions.

    Steps for Setting a Restriction on a Meal Account

    • Parent/Guardian completes the Student Account Restriction Form
    • Request a copy from the cafeteria manager or
    • Access the form on the Child Nutrition website: Here
    • Turn in the completed form to the student’s campus cafeteria manager
    • The cafeteria manager will set the requested restriction on the student’s meal account
    • If a parent/guardian wants to remove a restriction, then they need to complete and turn in another Student Account Restriction Form.

     

    • *Only a parent/guardian can set a restriction on a student’s meal account.

  • School Supply List for 2017-18

    Here is the newly revised school supply list for SLMS. New for 2017-18 is a pilot program in 6th grade where will be using a single binder, called an AVID binder, for all classes. Essentially, this is a single 3-inch D-ring binder (any color). This is an effort to help students be better organized while also minimizing the amount of materials they carry from class to class, and minimize (or even eliminate) the need for a locker. Throughout the year, 6th grade students will have structured time to organize their assignments, along with mini-lessons on how to remain organized. Note: Please DO NOT bring all of these supplies on the first day of school. Your child will only need: a lunch or lunch money, pen/pencil/paper, small string bag (15"x15").

  • Semester Exams

    Please see the semester exam schedule for this school year. Please note that exams will not be administered early for any reason. Students who miss an exam in December must make it up in January, and students who miss an exam in May must make it up in June. 

     

    Students are also reminded to stay off of other FBISD property after we dismiss on early dismissal days. Elementary campuses will still be in session until their regular dismissal time.
