I have been at Sugar Land MS since the fall of 2017. Previously, I taught at First Colony Middle School. I was there from 2001 until 2017. I received my degree from Texas A&M Corpus Christi. I was the Department Head for Social Studies from 2009 through 2015 (at FCMS) after receiving my Masters from Concordia University - Austin. I am also now currently the Department Head for Social Studies at SLMS. If you have questions concerning the department, feel free to contact me.

During my time at SLMS and FCMS, I have taught both 7th grade and 8th grade, including both Regular and Pre-AP classes. One of the contributions that I am most proud of was bringing the experience of the National History Day Project to FCMS in 2004 for our social studies students. As the competition on campus has grown, I am proud to say we have had quite a few students make it as far as the state competition in that time. We are now building the NHD program here at SLMS, and over the last couple of years have sent several students to the state competition in Austin. My new goal is to get students to the national competition that is held in Washington DC every year.

I also coached while at FCMS, both 7th and 8th grade football and track.

My educational philosophy is to encourage and promote students to become free thinkers and to use the knowledge they receive in class to make informed decisions as they become young adults.

I post all calendar events, upcoming due dates, and electronic copies of papers handed out in class on schoology. Upcoming due dates are also posted in my classroom. I do post PowerPoint notes on schoology as well. Students are expected to show up to class daily with a notebook and something to write with.
