We are excited to have a Best Buddies chapter here at Sugar Land Middle School. Best Buddies is a nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Students who are wanting to be a Peer Buddy or an Associate Buddy must be in 7th or 8th grade. Any student that has an IDD is eligible to be in Best Buddies.
Peer Buddy: A student who commits to a one-to-one friendship with a person with an intellecutal or developmental disability for one academic year.
Asociate Member: A student who provides chapter support as needed, but is not matched in a one-to-one friendship. Associate Members participate in chapter events, chapter meetings, and group outings.
