Welcome to 8^th grade language arts! This year we will dive into reading more challenging texts and analyzing the author’s craft and purpose. We’ll also be writing across genres and taking our knowledge of grammar to the next level. My favorite genre to read with students is poetry, so get ready to have some fun!

About my teaching experience : This is my 13^th year teaching, and my first year at Fort Bend ISD. I have taught special education, English language learners, GT students, and everyone in between. My passion is creating a safe space for kids to be challenged and engaged in the ownership of their learning.

A little about me : I was born in California, and raised traveling back and forth between Houston and different areas in southern California. As a high school student, I was passionate about building communities and spent a summer volunteering in a small town in Bolivia. After high school, I attended the University of Alaska : Fairbanks for my undergraduate degree. I have two daughters that are awesome humans and one big dog that enjoys talking to all our neighbors. My favorite activities are spending time with my family, reading, and being outdoors.
