About Dr. Garrett
Dr. Latoya Garrett is excited to join the Sugar Land Middle School family. She brings many experiences to SLMS and is ready to serve the Titan community. Dr. Garrett started her career as an elementary school teacher and counselor. She served in administration in the elementary, middle school, and high school levels. She was an assistant principal at the elementary level in the Dallas/Fort Worth area before relocating with her family to the Houston area. She joined FBISD as an assistant and associate principal at Sartartia Middle School. She later joined Dulles High School as an assistant principal. Most recently, Dr. Garrett served as an elementary principal at Briargate Elementary in FBISD.
Dr. Garrett received her undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University where she also met her husband, her master’s degree from Argosy University and her doctoral degree from the University of Houston in Executive Leadership. Dr. Garrett and her husband, Joel, have two daughters ages 3 and 6 years old.
Dr. Garrett believes that the key to our students’ success is a partnership between school and home, putting the student’s best interest first, and collaborating to prepare students for their futures beyond high school. Dr. Garrett is looking forward to supporting our school community, staff, and students.
