Longhorn Round-Up will be August 1st for grades 7th and 8th. August 2nd is for 6th grade and new families of incoming 7th and 8th grade students.
If you are a new BMS familiy and would like a student-led school tour, please go to this site to sign up for a time.
While your student is enjoying their Round-Up experience, feel free to remain in the commons (cafeteria) for some parent-specific information.
The following topics will be discussed:
We will also host a Q & A session with a panel of recent BMS alumni for a student perspective on middle school. Additionally, Dr. Milner (6th grade principal) and Mrs. Brockie (6th grade counselor) will discuss other topics of interest to 6th grade parents.
Parents are welcome to stay for all, or some, of the discussion topics – or feel free to leave campus and come back at pick-up time. Student pick-up will be in the commons at the same table where the Round Up experience started.
Kona Ice will be parked on the bus ramp after Longhorn Round-Up!

Next year will be an exciting and challenging year as you take high school credit Pre-AP Algebra I. We spend
very little time reviewing concepts from 7th and 8th grade math, as you are already expected to be proficient with
all content through 8th grade math before taking Algebra. To prepare students for Algebra I, this material is
taught in the 6th and 7th grade Pre-AP courses. Some of the important skills you need to have in order to be
successful in Algebra include: Rational number operations, exponents and square roots, order of operations,
evaluating expressions, solving multi-step equations and inequalities, functions, statistics, geometry, and
measurement concepts. See attached for the summer packet.
The purpose of this packet is to review math concepts as you look forward to 7th grade. All concepts in this packet have been previously covered in 6th grade. Please use this summer to assure all pre-requisite concepts have been understood
