• The Hope Squad at RPHS seeks to improve the campus culture through providing opportunities for students to support each other’s social and emotional health.

  • Why we want to create this club:

Young people today are struggling with their mental health. Here are a few statistics from this year’s district mental health training to illustrate this point: A 2022 report pointed out that 20% of kids aged 3-17 have a mental or emotional problem. A report using data up to 2019 showed that suicidal behaviors increased over 30% in the decade leading up to the report. These data indicate that it is likely a significant number of our students here at Ridge Point are struggling with mental health issues.

We felt that it was important to provide help for students struggling with mental health. The Hope Squad at RPHS seeks to improve the campus culture through providing opportunities for students to support each other’s social and emotional health.

In pursuit of this goal, we are planning on holding events focused on students' mental health throughout the year. To prepare students to lead these events we will use a nationally recognized curriculum. The district has paid for the curriculum and Ms. Doan will be teaching a period dedicated to planning the implementation of campus wide strategies to improve students’ mental health.
