Fort Bend ISD's Special Education Advisory Committee

The Fort Bend ISD Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC) is made up of parents of children with special needs representing all FBISD campuses. The purpose of the SEPAC is to facilitate understanding, respect, and appropriate education for all children while supporting families and educators who are also striving for this goal.
The 2024-2025 primary SEPAC representatived for Clements High School are Michelle Sandoval and Maitri Shah. They have agreed to serve as primary liaisons between Clements High School parents / families of children with special needs and district special education representatives. They will facilitate conversations and concerns with the Clements High School staff, both special education and otherwise, during monthly SEPAC with CHS administration. Contact with Mrs. Sandoval and Mrs. Shah is provided below. Through communication with families and Clements, we can ensure the best possible outcomes for our students with special needs.

The SEPAC encourages open communication, understanding, and mutual respect among all students, parents, and district educators. We appreciate your support as we work to fulfill the district’s mission of inspiring and equipping all students to pursue a future beyond what they can imagine.
Goals & Mission

Overall, the goals of the SEPAC are to:
- ADVOCATE for an innovative and inclusive educational environment where children with disabilities are provided with the resources necessary to reach their optimum potential;
- ADVISE Fort Bend ISD on the operation and development of special education programs, parent and teacher training needs, and help develop policy;
- SUPPORT Create a network of parents and caregivers of children with special needs to provide support and facilitate effective communication between parents, students and the school district.
The SEPAC will strive to:
- Identify and provide needed resources for Special Education students and their families through collaboration with schools, Fort Bend ISD, and the community.
- Become knowledgeable of local instructional services and personnel serving Special Education students as well as state or national laws, rules, regulations and guidelines affecting Special Education services. Contribute suggestions concerning policies and program improvements in Special Education services.
- Advocate for Special Education students, families, and schools in an effort to promote the awareness of the unique social and emotional needs of Special Education students.
- Cultivate a strong Special Education Community in Fort Bend ISD by creating opportunities for positive interactions between families, schools, and the community.
- Facilitate community education within Fort Bend ISD with a focus on bridging the gap between community feedback and Fort Bend ISD actions.
