Ms. Lori Toney
Welcome to high school, Rangers!
I'm excited to be your English I AAC teacher this year! I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. I moved to Texas 12 years ago, and this will be my 13th year teaching, my 8th at CHS, and my 5th year as English I Team Leader. I started out teaching in Aldine ISD, where I taught English I for 4 years. After Aldine, I taught a year of 8th grade English in Pearland, and finally landed here at CHS. I love it here!
In addition to teaching, I am also in my last year as a graduate school student at Sam Houston State University. I will earn my Master's in Education in Curriculum and Instruction in May of '22.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, watching way too much TV, and spending my time with my family. I have 9-year-old twin girls, a 6-year-old son. My girls are in 4th grade this year at Colony Bend ES, and my son is is 5 and just started 1st grade. I also have two really weird big dogs. They were littermates, and they are Australian Cattle dog/Golden Retriever mixes.
A fun fact about me: I am also a professional writer! On the side I own a freelance writing business, and I currently do ghostwriting, copywriting, and blogging for a popular educational app company. Something else interesting about me: I'm very musical! I play several instruments (violin, saxophone, and piano), and I LOVED being in the band and orchestra when I was in high school and college. If you are in the band or orchestra, don't be surprised when I ask you all about it.
I am looking forward to having yet another awesome year here at CHS, and I hope you are too!
