Sharing my passion for dance with students year after year...how cool is that?! "Welcome back to Fort Bend, Ms. Barth!" is the last thing HR told me when I accepted the position at Clements back in the summer of 2009. I am a graduate of Fort Bend ISD, having danced on The Dulles Dolls and so it was exciting to come back to my roots!
I continued my education and dance training at The University of Texas at Austin (Hook 'Em!). I graduated with a BFA in Dance and began my teaching career at local dance studios in the Austin area. While teaching at studios, I expanded my dance network by working for a dance convention - Starpower. I traveled around the country from coast to coast alongside other professionals in the arts. The experiences I gained while working a convention and teaching at studios helped me fine tune my natural talents as a dancer and a teacher!
I am beginning my tenth year at Clements and my eighth as the Head Director of the award-winning Stars Dance Team! The 2012-2013 season marks when I founded the JV Dance Team, offering a dance team for dancers in grades 9-11. I have seen an array of talent come through these doors and it just keeps getting better and better.
While the majority of my time outside of class is spent with the Stars and Twinkles, I hold a special place in my heart for my non-dance team students! I look forward to the various levels of dance ability that come through the dance room doors each year. Whether you are a natural dancer or simply want to learn how to dance, I will help you understand the importance of fine arts education while having fun!
And now for a little bit about me away from Clements...
My daughter has four legs and responds to "Maggs" when she's not in trouble and "Maggie" when she is. She will be 14 in October! A few things I love: Pinterest and anything crafty, 80s music, streaming TV/movies and Tex-Mex (mainly queso)! A few things I don't care for: insects/bugs in general, horror movies, paying taxes and going to the dentist. A few of my favorite stores are: Target, Home Goods and Anthropologie. My Amazon & Starbucks apps are used almost daily. A few of my bucketllist items are: going to New Zealand, The Scandinavian Peninsula, The Netherlands and Morocco...taking platform diving lessons...learning how to draw...re-learning how to play the violin (1st chair 6th-8th grade)...and to swim with baby otters!!!
