Mr. Jeff Johnson, Director of Bands
I am in my 19th year as a band director at Clements HS and I currently conduct the Symphonic Band, which has consistently received superior ratings at UIL concert and sightreading since the school opened in 1983. The Clements HS Marching Band has been a contender at the State Marching Contest 10 consecutive times since 1998. I currently serve as a mentor teacher for young band directors. I am a member of Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association. I am also an active member of TMAA, judging regularly in the Houston area each year.
I am an alumnus of Clements High School. I received my bachelor’s degree in music education from Sam Houston State University in May of 2002 under the direction of Dr. Matthew McInturf. In December of 2007, I earned the Master of Music degree in Conducting from Sam Houston State University, also under the guidance of Dr. McInturf.
Currently, I live in Sugar Land with my wife of 18 years, Jennifer, who is also a Clements HS and Sam Houston State alum. We have two boys—Nathan is 17 and Andrew is 14, both of whom are in the Clements Band. Andrew is a bassoon player and Nathan is in the trombone section. We have two Great Danes at home, Myla & Gracie.
