Mr. Jeff Johnson

I am in my 17th year as the associate band director for the Clements HS band in Sugar Land, TX.  I currently conduct the Concert 1 band, which has consistently received superior ratings at UIL concert and sightreading and was recently awarded the Citation of Excellence Award from The Foundation for Music Education and Best In Class at the Disney Music Festival.  I assist with the Clements HS Marching Band, which has been a contender at the State Marching Contest nine consecutive times since 1998.  I currently serve as the high school band facilitator for Fort Bend ISD and as a mentor teacher for young band directors.  I am an active member of TMAA, judging regularly in the Houston area each year.

I am an alumnus of Clements High School.  I received my bachelor’s degree in music education from Sam Houston State University in May of 2002 under the direction of Dr. Matthew McInturf.  In December of 2007, I earned my Master of Music degree in Conducting from Sam Houston State University, also under the guidance of Dr. McInturf.

Currently, I live in Sugar Land with my wife of 16 years, Jennifer, who is also a Clements HS and Sam Houston State alum.  We have two boys—Nathan is 15 and Andrew is 12, both of whom love to play baseball.  This year Andrew is a bassoon player at Fort Settlement MS and Nathan is in the Clements band in the trombone section.
