Mr. Daniel Amando Ruiz

I served over 10 years in the US Army and Texas National Guard as an infantry soldier, including service in the Army's elite special operations unit, the 75th Ranger Regiment. While still serving in the Texas National Guard, I completed my undergraduate degree in business administration and finance at UT-Pan American.

I attended law school from 2004-2007 at the University of Texas Tech School of Law, where I served on the Editorial Board of the Texas Bank Lawyer journal and as president of the law school's Corporate & Bankruptcy Law Society. During that time, I also earned an M.B.A. from the University of Texas Tech Rawls College of Business, served as a judicial clerk for the 13th Court of Appeals, and served as a legal clerk for the Texas Department of Banking. I have been a licensed attorney in Texas since November 2, 2007. My law practice has focused mostly on business disputes, family law, and guardianships, but after becoming a full-time business teacher, I have restricted my law practice to limited or emergency court appointments.

Since my early days in the Army, one thing that has never changed is my greatest passion and fulfillment, which is guiding the transformation of young people into mature and motivated adults. I enjoy seeing my students at Clements High School develop a passion for learning, while I also ensure that I place added emphasis on the importance of developing skills in leadership, collaboration, professionalism, attention to detail and setting "SMART" goals.

Since joining Clements High School, I have also enjoyed being a UIL-Academics coach for Computer Applications and Accounting. For these two events, I have helped multiple students achieve podium finishes for the entire state of Texas. I am proud of my students' accomplishments, and I highly encourage my students' efforts to continually develop their individual career and educational plans, while also maintaining a life perspective of fulfillment and happiness.
