Capt Hunter J. Channell, USAF, Ret
I have been the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor in charge of the Air Force Junior ROTC Program (TX-932) at Elkins High School since August 2008. During that time, I have taught the Aerospace Science portion of AFJROTC I, II, III, and IV as well as the Cadet Wellness portion of the course. Additionally, I have served as the coach for our CyberPatriot, Rocketry, JROTC Leadership Academic Bowl, and StellarExplorer teams. Originally, from Tuscaloosa, AL, I have served at bases located in Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, Texas and Pennsylvania. Also, I served on temporary assignments to South Korea, Cuba and Panama. After 20+ years of active duty service, I retired in 2008 from my last assignment in Senior Air Force ROTC at The Pennsylvania State University in State College, PA, Det 720. In addition to teaching at EHS, I served five years (2010-2015) in the Texas State Guard as a Professional Military Education faculty member with the Joint Headquarters, Camp Mabry, TX. Any students interested in taking AFJROTC are welcomed to visit us in Room 553 located on the patio to find out more information! Also, go to the Elkins Air Force JROTC Department Homepage for information on news, current events and an up-to-date calendar!
