Mrs. Zoey Simonson has been a director in both Alvin ISD and Brazosport ISD. In her first year of teaching, Ms. Simonson was named “Secondary Level Rookie of the Year”. Zoey is a proud product of Texas Music Education, kicking off her love for music in high school as a two-time Texas All-State Choir Member, earing first chair her senior year. After graduating high school, Simonson attended Lamar University on a full-ride scholarship. She has spent many years assisting the management and planning of High School Choir Camps at Lamar University, as well as serving as Lamar University’s Lead Choral Assistant and Soprano Section Leader for two years. While at Lamar, Simonson participated in the Honors College Program, received the lead role in the opera, The Tenderland, placed 2nd at Houston National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition, and managed tours of the Lamar University Choir. When not working at Elkins High School, Zoey spends lots of time playing games with her husband, Shawn, tending to her plants, cooking, and lounging at home with her rescue dog and cat, Leia and Olivia.
